souk artist kaws lets us have the deal

NOWNESSArt Basel Miami 2010 KAWS

NOWNESS Art Basel Miami 2010 – KAWS
Nowness, the LVMH-owned media outlet, has released episode one of a video series, which “asks artists about the bigger questions in life;” this first installation features Brian Donnelly, aka KAWS. Luckily, the “bigger questions in life” is just fancy talk for Donnelly talking about his early creative inspirations, and how he mentally goes through the creative process of completing a work, and then moves on. The video, shot while the artist is preparing work to be shipped to Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin for Art Basel Miami 2010, also touches on some of his recent endeavors from a more “art business” perspective, such as his comprehensive book released this year by Rizzoli. Nowness has the fun-to-watch artist interview down: not too much high-concept abstraction, just an accessible view into the artist’s perspective. Donnelly is obviously a very important artist to us, and it’s been pretty great to watch as his art world star rises. And to get any behind the scenes coverage – which inevitably shows how down-to-earth and completely lacking of presumption the artist is. Check out the video after the jump.

What happens when a group of ultra cool Parisian transplants infiltrate New York City? “Epic” may be the only appropriate word to describe the weekend celebration Ed Banger Records had in New York City. Celebrating both Ed Banger Record’s 7th anniversary, the release of its leading lady, Uffie’s highly anticipated “Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans” album, and Breakbot’s debut EP “Baby, I’m Yours”, and in general, seven years of awesomeness in reigning over the electronic music scene, the record label has partnered up with etnies and Konbini to create an exclusive wed-documentary called, The Ed Banger 7.
The Ed Banger 7 is a seven-episode series of web-based documentary which showcases Ed Banger’s weened celebration in New York City featuring its household artists, Justice, Uffie, Busy P, DJ Medhi, SoMe, Sebastian, Breakbot and Feadz. The documentary will be released over the course of a week, at the rate of one episode per day from June 23 to June 30 on Konbini. The documentary promises the perfect fusion of New York City chaos and Parisian-flavored fun. Check out the teaser video and stay tuned on Kobini for the documentary’s release.
