Souk 3000 – All Together Now (Beatles Cover)

Nike Basketball recently worked with Outkast’s Andre 3000 on a song that was used as the background music of a Kobe Bryant commercial and now the Atlanta native has liberated a full version of the song entitled, “All Together Now”, which is actually a cover of the classic Beatles song. Kazuki Kuraishi (kzk) Apparel

Armed with an eye for details, a mind that doesn’t cease to wander and talented friends ready to help, Kazuki Kuraishi is back for the four season of adidas Originals by Originals line-up for Fall/Winter 2010. Last season, Kuraishi enlisted the help of friends such as DJ MINTOS and CLOT to bring their two pence into the line, this coming season, Kuraishi turns to NEIGHBORHOOD’s new diffusion label, LUKER by Neighborhood, WHIZ Limited and also brought back DJ and artist MINTOS to the control. Having previously previewed the upcoming footwear collection from Fall/Winter 2010, now we have the apparel which goes with the cool hybrid kicks that are part vintage American, part Japanese, and all modern.

One of the staples which have returned is Kuraishi’s technical outerwear, and this season, it comes in the form of the KZK LTE Shell. For Spring/Summer, Kuraishi adopted colorful plaid and highly technical material, but for Fall/Winter, Kuraishi drew inspiration from adidas’ iconic diamond design on their footwear outsoles. This jacket is all weather proof with a fully seam-taped 3D silhouette, waterproof 2L Diaplex fabric and waterproof zippers. In Kuraishi’s world, every detail is functional and every function, has style.
In his collaboration with LUKER by Neighborhood, the duo came out with a few pieces, one of the stand out styles being the Luker Tweed Riders Jacket which features a biker jacket silhouette, but is crafted from heritage Scottish Harris Tweed. What we have previewed here is a simple grey logo hoodie featuring three-stripes running down the hood, and features easy co-branding on the front.
DJ Mintos returns with the same signature logo, ” Mintos At The Controls” and he has playfully added three elastic pockets to the crewneck BMX shirt. On the outerwear front, Kuraishi took some military inspiration and rendered the classic nylon track jacket with four military style pockets, three-stripes (of course!) and silver kzk emblems.
Aside from fresh apparel for the adults, this season also marks the introduction of adidas ObyO kzk’s children’s collection, and some of the pieces have been produced in collaboration with LUKER by Neighborhood as well. The collection is set for its first drop in August, so stay tuned and keep an eye out for them because these will not be staying on the racks for long.

R.I.P. Nicolas G. Hayek 1928 – 2010 | Mr. Swatch + Master Of Time

Beleaguered by cheap imports from Japan and the change in consumer’s taste, the once vaulted Swiss watch industry was in dire strait by the 1980s when a master dealmaker, Nicolas George Hayek, jumped into the scene.. Originally hired to liquidate the assets of 2 timepiece makers, ASUAG and SSIH, Hayek applied selective restructuring instead; with the firm believe that consumer’s would once again appreciate the Old World craftsmanship of timepiece making. Around the same time, a cheaper plastic variant was on the drawing board to counter the imported Casioand Seiko watches. The development process first started in 1982 by Dr. Ernst Thomke, along with timepiece engineers Elmar Mock and Jacques Muller. However, the success of what subsequently known as Swatch, was by Hayek’s phenomenal marketing skill sets (he’s known for wearing multiple Swatch at one time). With vibrant design and patterns, the ability to interchange parts, the watch became an instant success in the go-go 80s. Because of its affordability, fashion trends spurn around the watch. It was not uncommon to see people fashioned 2-4 Swatchs at the same time. Some even transformed theirs to brooches and hair bands. Another Hayek’s marketing ingenuity was the introduction of artist collaboration, the first such partnership between the once insular watch industry and the art world, from that of the late Keith Haring to the most recent one by Cassette Playa.

In addition to Swatch, Hayek’s knack for deal making helped him to become a billionaire many times over and his firm Swatch Group the largest timepiece maker in the world, manufacturing and licensing labels such as Omega, Longines, Tiffany & Co. Blancpain, Tissot, Hamilton, Rado, Calvin Klein, and more…. Of course, with all the success, there were some setbacks as well. When the Internet craze was at its peak, Swatch introduced a “new” world time standard, one the company stated as more suitable to the around-the-clock world we lived in. The project was scrapped unceremoniously. Then there was the Smart car. Envisioned by Hayek to be the “Swatch of automobile”, the original Smart car was to be affordable, with interchangeable body panels (there was a mention of artist series at one time), and hybrid power plant. However, the initial cost to start an auto company proved to be more than estimated. 5 years after its establishment, Hayek sold the remaining ownership to its larger partner, Daimler-Benz.

Nicolas George Hayek passed away today at age 82 while at work in the Swatch Group’s Biel headquarter. The cause was heart failure. The company will be under the watch of another Hayek, his son also by the name Nicolas, who is the current CEO. The splash page on the Swatch Group’s website simply read “Nicolas G. Hayek, 1928 – 2010, Entrepreneur”

Nike Auto Trainer – New Green/Purple Punch

Nike continues to deliver new vulcanized models of it’s classic silhouettes, this Nike Auto Trainer combines the upper of the Trainer SC II with a Blazer outsole. One of the first colorways to be delivered at select sneaker boutiques is this New Green and Purple Punch colorway that uses a mix of suede and leather on the upper of the shoe. The off White and Purple Punch vulcanized outsole gives the shoe a clean finish when complimented against the New Green upper. Pick these up at select retailers up now including Wish in Atlanta.

Kicherer – Mercedes SLS AMG Black Edition

German tuning house Kicherer would be one of the first tuners to give the newly released Mercedes SLS AMG an overhaul. Named the SLS AMG Black Edition, it featured an overall refreshed exterior with front lip spoiler, rear diffuser and 20 inch wheels as well as adjustable sports suspension, matte black exterior accents and remapped ECU matched by stainless steel performance exhaust system. All of the badges have been blacked out to add to the stealth look and the interior have been sharply decorated in black, silver and red color combination. The 6.3 liter V8 breathes out 620 horse power that is a little over the standard 563 horses. via: WCF

Billionaire Boys Club has debuted their Season 11 lookbook that features styling courtesy of Stephen Mann and photography by Neil Bedford. Damien Hirst X Audi A1 For Elton John’s AIDS Foundation

The luxurious love good art; and while the highly technical and calculatingly engineered modern marvels of automobiles seem to dwell in a different playing field from the freedom enjoyed by fine art, it is not difficult to see the stark similarity between both– a pursuit of perfection, and a belief that anything imaginable is possible. After Jeff Koons have joined the ranks of renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichenstein to work with BMW to create the Art Car for the 24 Hours Le Mans endurance race, one of Britain’s most irreverent and most expensive living artists, Damien Hirst, has also lent his paint brush (or in this case, spin paint) to dress a new Audi A1 3-door hatchback (not yet running on roads) for Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Charity Auction.

The cotton candy pink audi A1 hatchback is a part of the new Audi A1 super mini class line-up. The A1 is designed to compete directly with the BMW MINI and Alfa Romeo Mito. The three-door models are aniticpated to start selling in continental Europe this summer, while it should be available for purchase in September for the United Kingdom. For this event, audi has released the car in advance of its actual release dates.

Hirst spin-painted the cotton candy pink car in his studio in Gloucestershire, and the car is auctioned off alongside a 1.8jm spin-painted canvas created during the production of the car. The car and the canvas fetched a handsome 420,000 euros at Elton John and his partner, David Furnish’ annual charity event hosted at their old Windsor residence.

The Hirst painted car has an interesting colorful yet decaying exhumed look from the spin painting, and definitely conveys a strong sense of painterly participation in the work. Since it’s a one-of-a-kind ride, it is not too difficult to figure out who paid the kind and generous price tag for this sweet car. via: Design Boom

The summer is hot, and now the only other thing we need is fun to keep the girls happy. Or inN*E*R*D’s universe, that is all their girls want. After the teaser video rolled out not too long ago, the official full-length video of Hot N’ Fun from the group’s upcoming “Nothing” album has finally hit the web. The extended version is nothing short of expectations, gorgeous girls clad in scanty Native American inspired wear– fur, suede, all stringy and somehow managed to wrap around the important bits. Of course, the much talked about Rolls Royce drop-top designed by the happy creative agency, Friends With You, is also logging some significant camera time in the video. Fresh Celeb: Jay-Z – Adidas Originals Superstar – White/Obsidian


Jay-Z and Eminem performed a short three song set together atop the Ed Sullivan Theatre last night, which is also home to the David Letterman Show. The three song set included Eminem’s new single, “Not Afraid” off of his upcoming studio album, Recovery. Jay-Z went on to perform “On To The Next One” which is the current single off of his The Blueprint 3 album and then the two hooked up to perform their song “Renegade” which was featured on Jay-Z’s first Blueprint album. Jay-Z showed up to the Ed Sullivan Theatre wearing a Yankee Blue fitted, a crisp White tee, faded denim, and a pair of White and Obsidian adidas Originals Superstars. Eminem was seen leaving the building with a pair of the Beats by Dre headphones covering his ears and a pair of Nike Air Max’s on his feet.
The performance will be aired on Friday as a part of the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS.

Etnies X Ed Banger Records – The Ed Banger 7 Documentary | Teaser Video

What happens when a group of ultra cool Parisian transplants infiltrate New York City? “Epic” may be the only appropriate word to describe the weekend celebration Ed Banger Records had in New York City. Celebrating both Ed Banger Record’s 7th anniversary, the release of its leading lady, Uffie’s highly anticipated “Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans” album, and Breakbot’s debut EP “Baby, I’m Yours”, and in general, seven years of awesomeness in reigning over the electronic music scene, the record label has partnered up with etnies and Konbini to create an exclusive wed-documentary called, The Ed Banger 7.

The Ed Banger 7 is a seven-episode series of web-based documentary which showcases Ed Banger’s weened celebration in New York City featuring its household artists, Justice, Uffie, Busy P, DJ Medhi, SoMe, Sebastian, Breakbot and Feadz. The documentary will be released over the course of a week, at the rate of one episode per day from June 23 to June 30 on Konbini.
