Moncler x Pharrell Williams @ colette
These bullet-proof looking puffy vests first made a splash when preview images debuted on WWD back last November, drawing an almost audible sigh simultaneously from different corners of the world, lamenting, “Why aren’t these already on racks so I can wear them now?” Sure, the weather may not be in favor for these quilted, puffy numbers created by Pharrell Williams with Italian down company, Moncler, at the moment, but to avoid further disappointment, we would really suggest ushering them into your closet space as soon as possible once they hit the racks.
This collaborative collection between Pharrell and Moncler comes as a great, urban follow up to Moncler’s recent onslaught of collaborative projects with labels such as Thom Browne, Sacai, and visvim. In Pharrell’s tough urban aesthetics, he drew inspiration from the military-styled bulletproof vest and added a “forest” print lining inspired by Keita Sugiura’s work. These vests have also been crafted from Bionic Yarn, a three-year old textile company owned by Pharrell which makes yarn out of recycled plastic bottles.
The vests will be making a guest appearance at colette alongside Pharrell and Remo Ruffini, founder of Moncler. We are not sure if the vests will be on sale, but we are quite certain more information will be available at the event to be held at colette this coming Thursday, June 24 at 6pm.
