While the art world is in preparation for its annual migration to Miami for Art Basel. Pop artist Kenny Scharf squeezed in a few days to put his mark on the mural by Houston Street and Bowery. Formerly managed by Jeff Deitch and now curated by Deitch Project alum Kathy Grayson, the Wall have seen a heavy rotation of artist (and artwork), with a Dash Snow (SACE IRAK) memorial as the most recent decor. If you’re in New York City for the holidays, swing by the busy intersection for a look yourself. via: Gothamist // Jim Kiernan

DC LIFE Cadet Chukka For Hotel On Rivington
By now, you’ve probably seen some of shoes DC has created for Hotel On Rivington. The Hotel, which cultivates a Lower East Side-meets-big-name-design vibe, has now worked with DC LIFE on a number of occasions, producing footwear exclusively for the staff – who are lavished with well designed uniforms. The partnership has given rise to some of the California sneaker company’s most forward designs – The Hotel sets the design bar pretty high (various amenities and areas are designed by India Mahdavi, Zaha Hadid, Pieor Lissoni, and Marcel Wander). DC obviously comes out ahead too, with what it would hope is a Lower East Side stamp of approval. For this round, DC puts the Hotel staff in it’s Cadet Chukka shoe, for what is probably the most reserved and formal shoe in the collaboration to date. The shoe is in all black suede and premium leather, and the toe box is etched with DC’s “patented” geometric design. A big nod to DC’s legacy is on visible on the outsole – “HOTEL ON RIVINGTON” is stamped around it, just like DC SHOE CO was stamped around the original DC LYNX. The obvious winners here: Hotel On Rivington Staff. No gold braid epaulet bellboy uniforms. Check out the full images after the jump.

Adidas Originals Japan – Women’s Fall/Winter 2010 | Lookbook
Girls just want to have some fun! While its male counterpart was all about straight-laced attitude of the streets, geeky fandom nostalgia, or tech-out, performance driven gears. adidas Originals for Women went on to have a party instead, with wild color palettes and all the frills you could have. With the enlisted help from trend (and fun) driven girls of Tokyo, the lookbook for adidas Originals Japan is one of fashionable polka-dots, congruent lines, and toothy smiles. A mix-and-matching look where stiletto coexist with jogging shorts and hint of seduction effortless integrates with the innocence of the girl next door. Then again, this is Tokyo we’re talking about, the metropolis of juxtapositions, so celebrate originality as Fall/Winter 2010 Collection for Women arrives at all adidas Originals retail locations, including the 4 concept stores in the greater Tokyo area.

McLaren MP4-12C
McLaren Automotive built it’s off-track reputation primarily on the iconic McLaren F1 (1993-1998), and later, with the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (2003-2009). Another pure McLaren, one combining the company’s F1 racing heritage and it’s tunnel-vision focus on materials and engineering, had been rumored for several years – and the company made the MP4-12C public earlier this Fall. The car will go on sale in 2011, for a price of between $230,000 and $250,000 in the US market, which will probably account for about one quarter of total sales – about 1000 examples of the car will be created in the first production year. The most striking and unique feature of the MP4-12C is the extensive use of carbon fiber – it runs from the Carbon MonoCell body down to the mirror casings, engine cover and engine-bay panels. The curbweight hasn’t been released yet, but it’s set to be around svelte 1.3 tons. Power is derived from a mid-mounted 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, developing approximately 592 bhp, and around 443 lb·ft of torque. McLaren claims the MP4-12C can accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in under 10 seconds, with a top speed in excess of 322 km/h (200 mph), and can brake from 200 km/h (124 mph) to a complete stop in under five seconds. Critics have called this a Ferrari F430 ripoff, or just a status symbol car. Both are valid critiques; neither is likely to deter the buyer who wants an unprecedented, feather-light supercar that doesn’t have a Stallion or a Bull logo. Whether you think this car is sick or sickening, there are some interesting design features. Check out the big gallery of detail shots after the jump. via: Autoblog.
