Honeyee Feature – James Jabbia Interview On Supreme X Nike SB 94
New York downtown skate staple, Supreme, is not only know for its good taste and reign in the skateboarding world, as one of the forefathers in aiding the development of the street skating, but has grown to be an international presence. Supreme has been collaborating with Nike for a few years now, and generally releases a sneaker or two every year or so, but this time, the duo take their partnership to a whole new level and attempted (and perfectly executed) something never done before– create a brand new silhouette. And mind you, the new Supreme x Nike SB 94 is not just a fresh sneaker in terms of shape, but has broken many grounds as well.
First off, the sneaker makes use of the Foamposite technology, which is rarely used outside basketball, and secondly, the sneakers are inspired by the classic Jordan 1. Perhaps in a nod to how skaters used to don basketball shoes before specialized skate shoes were made, these sneakers have been garnering attention of both sneakerheads and skaters since teaser images were leaked online.
As the sneakers are set to release tomorrow at Supreme New York, on November 13th in Japan and on November 15 online, honeyee had conducted an interview with James Jabbia, the man at helm of Supreme, and discussed both skating and the label’s relationship with Nike. Check out the full interview here, which is available in both English and Japanese.
